Great Lighting for Safer, Comfortable & Energy-Efficient Spaces

What makes great lighting essential in modern spaces?

Great lighting improves safety, comfort, visual appeal, and energy efficiency. It ensures people can work, move, and interact confidently while keeping operating costs low.

How does enLighten design lighting that suits each space?

Our designers start by understanding how the space is used—such as meetings, office work, technical tasks, sport, or public circulation—and the atmosphere you want to create. From this, we determine the brightness, colour temperature, and colour accuracy required.

What lighting types are used in a well-designed space?

We combine four lighting layers:

  • Ambient lighting for general illumination

  • Task lighting for work areas with strong glare control

  • Accent lighting to highlight features and create contrast

  • Decorative lighting for visual impact

How do you ensure lighting is energy-efficient?

We design for low power per square metre, select high‑efficacy luminaires, and use smart controls such as daylight sensors, occupancy detection, motion sensors, and dimming.

How does enLighten coordinate with other project consultants?

We work from architectural drawings and coordinate with HVAC, fire, AV, and structural services to prevent clashes and ensure smooth installation.

Do you model the lighting design before installation?

Yes. We use tools like AGi32 for light simulations and compliance checks, AutoCAD for detailed plans, and Revit for building‑wide coordination. This reduces rework and provides visual confidence in the final design.

Which standards and codes do your designs comply with?

Our designs meet Australian standards including AS/NZS 1680, AS/NZS 1158, AS/NZS 2560, AS/NZS 2293, AS 4282, and NCC Section J (J7). We also support sustainability frameworks such as Green Star, NABERS, and WELL.

How do you plan for installation and long-term maintenance?

We ensure luminaires match the ceiling or structure, confirm appropriate mounting methods, and position fittings for easy installation and servicing. Site visits can be conducted where useful.

What deliverables will clients receive?

You receive lighting plans, reflected ceiling plans, 3D visuals, compliance summaries, energy and control strategies, luminaire schedules, and coordination notes for other trades.

Why do clients choose enLighten?

We design lighting around how your space is used—not just the fixtures themselves. Our approach delivers comfort, safety, and energy performance with documentation that simplifies approvals and construction.

What do common lighting terms mean?

  • Lumens: Total light output

  • Lux: Light reaching a surface

  • Colour Temperature: Warm to cool appearance

  • CRI / TM‑30: Colour accuracy

  • Glare Control: Reduces harsh brightness

  • Efficacy: Light output per watt
